The latch that secures the pop-top on a Black Series HQ12 and the top door on a Dominator, with a red rubber seal that helps keep dust and water out at the latch point. The latch is worked every time the roof is raised or the top door is opened, and the mechanism and the rubber wear with use; a latch that has lost its tension lets the top lift or rattle on corrugations and lets dust in. Owners replace it when the handle has broken, the latch no longer holds, or the rubber has perished.

Installation and care
Mark the position of the old latch before removing it so the new one lines up with the keeper. Fit the screws loosely, close the top and check that the latch pulls it down snug against the seal without forcing, then tighten. Wipe the red rubber with a rubber conditioner a few times a year and keep grit out of the mechanism. Check that every latch is closed before towing; one open latch is a common cause of a lifted roof at speed.
