The parking hand brake holds a Black Series HQ camper still once it is unhitched, and it is one of the parts that gets worked every single stop. The lever is made from high-impact ABS plastic with a locking mechanism that holds on uneven ground. Owners replace it when the ratchet no longer holds, the lever cracks, or the cable stretches so far that it runs out of adjustment. It is a direct factory replacement for all HQ Series models.

Installation and care
Chock the wheels before you touch the old brake. After fitting, adjust the cable so the lever holds firmly a few clicks up rather than at the end of its travel, then test on a slope before relying on it. Once a season, check the cable for fraying where it exits the sheath and lubricate the pivot. If the lever holds but the trailer still creeps, the wheel brakes themselves may need adjustment.
