Installation and care
Support the roof securely before removing the old strut; a gas strut can be under load even when it feels weak. Compare the extended length and end fittings of your old strut against the new one before fitting. Fit the strut with the rod pointing down where the mounting allows, never clamp or scratch the polished rod, and wipe it clean of dust occasionally. If the roof is held by more than one strut, replacing them together keeps the lift even.
