Short answer: if you are replacing the converter, inverter and breaker panel in one go and want a single-brand, pre-wired 48V system with a touchscreen, the Bluetti RV5 kit is the shorter path. If you already have (or want) a 12V or 24V lithium bank, need to size the inverter, solar controller and batteries independently, or your installer knows Victron, build it from Victron parts. Both routes get you to 5kW-class off-grid power; they get there differently, and the right one depends on the rig and on who is doing the install.
What each route is
The Bluetti RV5 system
The Bluetti RV5 is a 5-in-1 power hub. It replaces the converter, inverter, transfer switch, solar charge controller and DC-DC charger in an RV electrical system with a single 48V unit that puts out up to 5,000W at 120V, with dual MPPT solar inputs, vehicle (alternator) charging and a 48V-to-12V step-down module built in. It is designed to pair with three other Bluetti pieces: the B4810 battery (51.2V, 100Ah, 5,120Wh, with 4.8kWh usable per Bluetti, rated at 6,000 or more cycles to 80%), the Epanel smart distribution panel that replaces a conventional RV breaker panel with monitored AC and DC circuits, and the Epad 10.1-inch touchscreen. Sold together they are the 5kWh RV Kit, $3,598.99 on our store. Bluetti rates the kit at 5,000W continuous with a 10kW surge, charging from solar, alternator or shore power (shore charge 0 to 80% in 50 minutes), and scalable from 5kWh to 122kWh by adding B4810 modules.
The Victron build
Victron sells components, not a system in a box. A 5kW-class camper build is a MultiPlus-II inverter/charger, a SmartSolar MPPT solar controller, an Orion DC-DC charger for tow-vehicle charging, a Lynx Distributor fused busbar, a SmartShunt battery monitor, a Cerbo GX with a GX Touch display for monitoring, and a lithium bank you size yourself. We package the electronics as the 12V Travel Trailer Power Kit ($2,307.01) and the 24V Off-Grid Trailer Power Kit ($2,371.92); in both, batteries, solar panels and cable are sold separately so you can size them to the rig. At the top of the range, the Expedition Power Kit ($8,499.00) is the complete 12V system with four 12.8V 200Ah Smart batteries (800Ah), a VE.Bus BMS, a BatteryProtect, the Lynx Distributor, the GX monitoring and the cabling included.

Install effort
The RV5 kit arrives pre-wired, and because the hub takes the jobs of four or five separate boxes there is less to mount and fewer cable runs between components. Bluetti sells four wiring packs for the install, and we stock all of them: the alternator charger pack ($178.99), the Epanel distribution pack ($148.99), the solar panel pack ($98.99) and the RV5-to-B4810 battery pack ($98.99). The part that is more work than a straight inverter swap is the Epanel, because it replaces the breaker panel rather than sitting beside it; if you are adding power to a finished rig, plan for it.
A Victron build is more pieces. Each component mounts separately, the Lynx busbar carries the fusing, and cable size follows the bank voltage you choose. Our kits remove the compatibility guesswork (voltage, current and the VE.Bus, VE.Direct and VE.Can communication are matched so everything shows as one system on the GX Touch), but you still lay the system out. The upside is that it drops into an RV that keeps its existing AC panel and 12V loads untouched. The 24V option uses thinner, cheaper cabling than 12V at the same power, which is why that kit exists for larger trailers and toy haulers that run air conditioning off the battery.
Expandability
Bluetti grows in 5,120Wh blocks. Add a second B4810 ($1,498.99) and the RV5 manages the pack over closed-loop CAN rather than estimating state of charge; the 10kWh RV Kit ($5,998.99) is the same system with two batteries from the start. The ceiling Bluetti quotes is 122kWh. What you cannot do is change the inverter size or the solar controller.
Victron grows in whichever direction you need. The NG batteries scale to a 385kWh bank and can be built as 12V, 24V or 48V; the MultiPlus-II supports parallel and three-phase configurations; a second SmartSolar MPPT can be synchronized over VE.Can (up to 25 units). You can also change one piece without touching the rest. If 3,000VA turns out to be short, the 48/5000/70-95 MultiPlus-II is $1,458.59 and the 12/3000/120-50 is $902.69 on our store, and either slots into the same Lynx and GX layout.
Monitoring and control
The Epad is the RV5 system's screen: 10.1 inches, 1280 x 800, power and data over a single Bluetti CAN cable from the RV5 or Epanel. It adds two dry-contact relays for scheduling or generator start, inputs for NTC temperature probes and resistive tank-level senders, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet, and a microSD slot for local logging. Tanks, battery and circuits end up on one panel.
On the Victron side the Cerbo GX MK2 ($237.99) is the communication center for the inverter/charger, solar chargers and batteries, with the GX Touch display on the wall and the free VRM portal for remote monitoring from anywhere. Each Victron component also carries its own Bluetooth for the VictronConnect app, so the SmartSolar controller and the Orion charger can be set up from a phone. The kit as sold has nothing equivalent to the Epad's tank-sender inputs.
What it costs on our store
The fair comparison is a full system with charging, distribution and monitoring, before solar panels and cable.

Those Victron totals assume drop-in lithium such as the NG batteries, which carry their own internal BMS. A bank built from Victron Smart (non drop-in) batteries needs a Lynx Smart BMS added on top, so treat the figures as the floor for the battery type shown rather than a fixed quote.
Two things to add to the Victron lines. Victron Smart batteries require an external BMS; the Lynx Smart BMS runs $763.67 to $1,178.09 on our store, so check the listing for the battery you pick and budget for it. And the Victron totals above do not include fuses, cable or lugs, while the Bluetti wiring packs cover the runs between Bluetti parts. On the Bluetti side, roof solar is the PV100 FX flexible 2-pack at $298.99 for 200W.
Who each suits
- Bluetti RV5 suits a full electrical refit or a new build where you are happy to go 48V from the start; an owner who wants one brand, one app and one screen; anyone who wants tank levels, temperatures and generator start on the same panel as the battery; and a buyer who plans to grow in 5kWh blocks.
- A Victron build suits an RV that keeps its existing 12V system and AC panel; a bank that is already 12V or 24V, or made of batteries with their own BMS; a rig that needs a different inverter size, from the 2,000VA van kit at $1,289.60 up to 5,000VA; anyone who wants remote monitoring through VRM; and owners or shops who already know the Victron ecosystem.
A decision rule
- Is the breaker panel being replaced anyway? If yes, the RV5 with its Epanel is the natural fit. If no, Victron leaves the panel alone.
- Is there a 12V or 24V lithium bank you intend to keep? If yes, Victron. The RV5 is a 48V system built around the B4810.
- Do you need more than 3,000VA, or do you want it in one box? The RV5 gives 5,000W in the hub; Victron gives it with a 48/5000 or 24/5000 MultiPlus-II and a matching bank.
- Who is installing? A pre-wired kit and four wiring packs favor a competent owner; a component layout favors a shop or an owner who has built a Victron system before.
- How will it grow? If the answer is "more battery, same everything else," both work. If it is "different inverter, second solar controller, maybe a generator input later," Victron.
What we'd do
For a fresh build in a trailer that is being wired from scratch, we would spec the 5kWh RV Kit with the four wiring packs and a PV100 FX pair on the roof, and add a second B4810 when the first season shows it is needed. For an existing camper with a working 12V system, we would put in the 12V Travel Trailer Power Kit with two 200Ah or 300Ah NG batteries and keep the factory panel. They are two good answers to two different starting points. Browse the whole range in our Bluetti collection.
