What a GX Device Actually Does
A GX device connects to your Victron components (VE.Bus, VE.Direct, VE.Can, Bluetooth) and gives you: a live system overview (battery %, watts in from solar, watts out to loads), remote monitoring and control from anywhere via the free VRM online portal, remote firmware updates and configuration — no laptop-in-the-bay sessions, data logging so you can see whether your solar actually kept up last weekend, and relay control for generators, fans, or alarms. If you've ever wondered "will my batteries last until morning?" — the GX answers that with data instead of guesswork.
Cerbo GX (and MK2): The Standard Choice
The Cerbo GX MK2 is the do-everything hub: multiple VE.Direct ports for solar controllers, VE.Bus for your inverter/charger, VE.Can, USB, Bluetooth, WiFi, and Ethernet, plus tank-level and temperature inputs — genuinely useful in an RV, where fresh/grey/black tank senders can feed straight into your power display. It has no screen of its own: you pair it with the GX Touch 50 or 70 display, use your phone, or check VRM. For most camper trailers and van builds, Cerbo GX MK2 + GX Touch 50 is the standard, and it's what we install on Black Series HQ upgrade systems.
GX Touch: The Screen, Not the Brain
A common point of confusion: the GX Touch is only a display for a Cerbo GX — it doesn't work alone. The Touch 50 (5-inch) fits neatly in a cabinet face or wall panel; the Touch 70 (7-inch) is easier to read across the cabin. Both are glove-friendly touchscreens showing the full system overview and settings.
Ekrano GX: Brain + Screen in One
The Ekrano GX combines a Cerbo-class GX device and a 7-inch touchscreen in a single flush-mount unit. One box, one cutout, fewer cables — ideal for new builds and clean dashboard installs. Spec-wise it's essentially a Cerbo GX with a built-in display, so choose it when you want the simplest install; choose Cerbo + Touch when you want the brain hidden in the electrical bay and just a slim screen visible.
Which One Should You Buy?
- Most RVs: Cerbo GX MK2 + GX Touch 50 — flexible, expandable, tank inputs included.
- New build wanting the cleanest install: Ekrano GX — one flush-mounted unit.
- Budget/minimal: Cerbo GX alone, monitored from your phone and the VRM portal — add a Touch screen later if you miss it.

Installation is genuinely plug-and-play: VE.Bus cable to your MultiPlus, VE.Direct cables to your SmartSolar MPPT and battery monitor, then connect WiFi and create a free VRM account. Firmware updates and alarms are automatic after that.
