My Workhorse W22 needs new shocks: which Bilstein front and rear?

Answered by RV Parts Giant · Upland, CA · October 4, 2026

Short answer: It splits at 2005. A 2001-2004 W20 or W22 takes Bilstein 24-186629 front and 24-186537 rear. A 2005-2009 W20, W22 or W24 takes 24-153249 front and 24-268097 rear, and the 24-268097 rear also covers the 2010-2011 W-series chassis.

Workhorse W-series chassis sit under many gas Class A coaches from the 2000s, including the Holiday Rambler Vacationer and Monaco La Palma and Monarch. Bilstein's B6 replacements change part numbers at the 2005 model year, so check the chassis year on the VIN plate first.

Workhorse chassis Front Rear
W20, W22 2001-2004 24-186629 24-186537
W20, W22, W24 2005-2009 24-153249 24-268097
W20, W22, W24 chassis 2010-2011 not listed by Bilstein 24-268097

Bilstein lists a front shock for the W-series only through 2009. For a 2010 or 2011 chassis, send us the VIN and we will confirm the front with Bilstein before you order.

The 24-268097 rear is a pin-to-pin mount and is shared with the Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC Topkick medium-duty trucks, which is why its product title names them.

Your shocks may not be the originals

Many W-series coaches left the factory with Bilstein shocks that Workhorse specified, and owners on the forums report that Bilstein's retail replacements are valved differently from those factory units. The part numbers above are Bilstein's current replacements for the chassis; if your coach has been re-shocked before, the old part number on the shock body may not match either column, which is normal.

How many

One shock per corner. For a 2001-2004 chassis we sell the complete set of two fronts and two rears, priced at the sum of the singles. You can also check any year in the Bilstein Shock Fitment Finder.
