The short version: both EverFrost 2 coolers are compressor fridge-freezers that run from a removable 288 Wh battery, so they keep working with the engine off and no station attached. Pick the 40L (42 qt) for a van, a truck cab or one or two people, and the 58L (61 qt) dual zone if you want a freezer and a fridge at the same time or you feed a family.
Side by side
| EverFrost 2 40L | EverFrost 2 58L | |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity | 40 L (42 qt) | 58 L (61 qt) |
| Zones | Single | Dual, independently set |
| Temperature range | -4°F to 68°F | -4°F to 68°F |
| Runtime, 1 battery (Anker) | 52 h | 39 h |
| Runtime, 2 batteries (Anker) | 104 h (about 4.3 days) | 78 h (about 3.2 days) |
| Outside size | 29.5 × 18 × 19.4 in | 38.8 × 18 × 19.4 in |
| Weight | 50.71 lb | 63.71 lb |
| Energy class (Anker label) | B | C |
Both come with one battery and have room for two. Anker's runtime figures were measured at 39°F inside, in Eco mode, with the cooler empty and the room at 77°F. A full cooler that gets opened often on a hot day will run for less.
Size: what fits where
The two coolers share the same 18 in depth and 19.4 in height; the 58L is 9.3 in longer. Measure the spot first: behind the seats in a van, the bed of a truck, or the floor of a trailer's pass-through. Leave space around the vents, and remember the lid needs room to open.
Weight matters if you lift it in and out. The 40L is 50.71 lb empty and the 58L is 63.71 lb, before food. Anker lists 6-inch wheels and a retractable handle (EasyTow) in the 40L's product details, and both product pages show the EasyTow section.
Single zone or dual zone
A single-zone cooler is set to one temperature: fridge or freezer. The 58L splits into two compartments that Anker says cool or freeze independently, so you can freeze meat in one side and keep drinks and produce cold in the other. If you only need a fridge, the 40L gives you more runtime per battery.
Battery and runtime
The battery is a 288 Wh LFP pack rated by Anker at 3,000 cycles to 80%. It weighs 5.51 lb and doubles as a power bank, with a 60 W USB-C port and a 12 W USB-A port. Anker sells a second battery for longer trips; we don't list it yet, so ask us if you want one.
From Anker's figures, the 40L averages about 5.5 W (288 Wh ÷ 52 h) and the 58L about 7.4 W (288 ÷ 39) in that test. Use those as a best case, not a promise.
Anker's three modes trade speed against runtime: Max runs the fan and compressor hard for fast cooling, Eco keeps the fan off for the longest runtime, and Smart (the default) balances the two. Anker says the 40L drops from 77°F to 32°F in about 15 minutes in Max mode, empty.
Four ways to recharge
Anker lists the recharge time for one battery as:
- 100 W solar panel: 3.6 h
- Wall outlet (95 W adapter): 3.6 h
- Car socket (95 W): 3.6 h
- USB-C (60 W): 5.5 h
Solar note: the cooler's solar input expects a 100 W panel in roughly the 11–28V range (Anker's FAQ also says 12–30V), and a battery must be in the cooler for solar charging to work. Of the panels we sell, the PS100 (21.6V) is the match. The PS200 and PS400 run at 48V, which is above that range.
Running it from a power station
If you already carry an Anker SOLIX station, plug the cooler's car charging cable into the station's 12V car-socket output. The C1000 Gen 2, C2000 Gen 2 and F3800 Plus each have a 12V, 10A output; the S2000 does not have one. Running on 12V avoids the losses of going through the station's inverter. With the cooler's own battery as a buffer, a 1kWh station adds days rather than hours of cooling in mild weather; how many depends on how full the cooler is, how often it's opened and how hot it gets.

The Road Trip Kit bundle
We also sell the EverFrost 2 40L + Road Trip Kit: the same 40L cooler with Anker's Road Trip Kit accessory set. It still includes one battery.
Which one
- Solo or couple, van or SUV, mostly fridge: 40L.
- Family, long trips, frozen and fresh food together: 58L.
- Off-grid for days without driving: either, plus a PS100 panel or a second battery.
FAQ
Does the EverFrost 2 need ice?
No. It is a compressor cooler that freezes or chills from -4°F to 68°F with no ice.
Can I use the battery from my first-generation EverFrost?
Anker says the EverFrost 2 removable battery works with the EverFrost 2 40L and 58L and cannot be used with the first-generation EverFrost.
Can I run it from an S2000?
Yes, through the cooler's AC adapter (95 W) plugged into one of the S2000's AC outlets. The S2000 has no 12V car-socket output, so the 12V route is not available, and going through the inverter costs a little more energy than running on 12V.
How heavy is it with food inside?
Anker's weights are empty: 50.71 lb for the 40L and 63.71 lb for the 58L. Add your food and drinks, and think about who lifts it into the vehicle.
Can I control it from my phone?
Yes. Anker lists app control for both models.
Where does it ship from?
From our warehouse in Upland, California, to the lower 48 states, with Anker's 3-year warranty. See the full Anker SOLIX range.
