The waterproof canvas that forms the upper walls of the pop-top on a Black Series HQ12. When the roof is raised, the canvas is all that stands between the sleeping area and the weather, so it has to keep rain out while letting the cabin breathe. Canvas fails from UV exposure, mildew after being packed away damp, and abrasion where it folds, and once a seam opens or the fabric goes brittle it is time to replace the whole skin rather than patch it.

Installation and care
Raise the roof, release the old canvas from the roof and body, and note how it is folded so the new one goes on the same way. Fit the new canvas loosely first, then tension it evenly so no edge is pulling harder than the rest. Always let the canvas dry fully before lowering the roof for storage; folding it wet is the fastest way to grow mildew. Brush off dust before closing, and treat the fabric with a canvas-safe waterproofing spray once water stops beading on it.
