The city water inlet is a $30 part that can cause $3,000 of damage. It lives on the outside wall, takes full campground water pressure, bakes in UV, and — when its check valve or seal fails — leaks inside the wall cavity where you won't see it until the paneling stains or the floor softens. If your inlet drips, weeps, or the trim ring is cracked, replace it now, not next season.
Signs Yours Is Failing
- Water dripping from the inlet or wall seam while connected to city water
- Water spraying back out of the inlet when the pump runs (failed check valve — the classic symptom)
- Cracked, chalky, or UV-yellowed housing and trim
- Damp smell or staining inside near the inlet's wall position
Why the Fiamma Inlet

Replacement, Step by Step
- Depressurize: disconnect city water, run a tap to drop pressure, switch off the pump.
- Remove the old inlet: unscrew the flange, gently pull it out, and disconnect the hose behind it (have a towel ready — the line holds water).
- Clean the opening: scrape off all old sealant down to clean skin — new sealant over old is how leaks come back.
- Connect the new inlet: attach the water line to the barb/fitting with a fresh clamp; wrap threaded fittings with plumber's tape.
- Seal and mount: bed the flange in quality exterior sealant, screw it home, and wipe the squeeze-out clean.
- Test: connect city water and inspect from inside (open the access panel) under full pressure, then run the pump and confirm nothing spits back outside.
Total time: about an hour, and it's a genuinely satisfying fix.
