Rich Solar FAQ
What is the difference between ALPHA LITE, ALPHA and ALPHA PRO?
Same size and capacity, different features. Rich Solar rates the LITE for 4,000+ cycles with no Bluetooth or internal heating. The standard ALPHA adds Bluetooth and a built-in heater and is rated for 5,000+ cycles. The PRO keeps both, is rated for 7,000+ cycles (8,000+ on the ALPHA 3 PRO), is UL 1973 certified (as is the standard ALPHA 2) and carries a 10-year warranty instead of 5. See ALPHA LITE vs ALPHA vs PRO.
Can I charge a Rich Solar battery below freezing?
Every ALPHA charges between 32 and 131°F. The models with internal heating (ALPHA, PRO and the MINI batteries) warm themselves so they can charge in the cold; the LITE models simply stop charging below 32°F and resume when it is safe.
MPPT or PWM controller?
Rich Solar's 12V PWM controllers, such as the BRAVO Waterproof and BRAVO AIR, accept a maximum of 25V from the panels, so they suit one or more 12V panels wired in parallel (the 12V/24V BRAVO LEGEND PWM models take up to 55V). The BRAVO 30 to 60 MPPT controllers accept up to 100V, so they work with 24V panels and panels wired in series, and they harvest more from a larger array. Our BRAVO controller guide matches each model to an array size.
What is the difference between MEGA 100, SLIM and ONYX?
The MEGA 100 is a 39 x 21.3 in panel. The MEGA 100 SLIM is narrower and longer at 50 x 15.8 in, uses N-type TOPCon cells and weighs 12.4 lb. ONYX is the black-finish version of several MEGA models, with the same electrical specs. See MEGA 100 vs SLIM vs ONYX vs FLEX.
Can one ALPHA 1 run a 2000W inverter?
Not at full load. The ALPHA 1 is rated for 100A continuous discharge, which is roughly 1,100W of AC load through a 12V inverter. A 2000W inverter at full power pulls close to 200A on 12V, so add a second battery in parallel or use a 200A-rated battery such as the ALPHA 2 LITE or ALPHA 3 MINI. Our NOVA inverter guide has the numbers.
