Black Series Door Lock, Latch & Key Fitment Guide

Replacing a Black Series door lock, latch, key or hinge means matching the exact hardware your model uses. Entrance-door locks, compartment locks and the keys that fit them vary across the HQ-series, so identify the part by where it's fitted and (for locks) the key/cylinder code, then order the matching replacement. This guide shows you how to identify your hardware and find the right part.

How to identify your door hardware

  1. Where is it fitted? Main entrance door, exterior storage/compartment hatch, or interior door.
  2. Lock or latch? A lock takes a key/cylinder; a latch/catch holds the door closed without a key.
  3. Key code: for keyed locks, note the code stamped on the lock face or key (this is how matching keys/cylinders are ordered).
  4. Mounting: measure the cut-out and screw pattern; note handle style (paddle, T-handle, knob).

Find the part that matches what you're replacing, then confirm fitment by where it's fitted and (for locks) the key code. If your exact part isn't listed, send us a photo and your measurements and we'll match it.

Matching keys & cylinders

Keyed locks are ordered by their key/cylinder code. If you've lost all keys, you'll usually need a new lock or cylinder cut to a fresh code rather than a copy. Always quote the code stamped on the lock or key when ordering replacements so the new key turns your existing lock.

Replacing it — quick tips

  • Replace the seal/gasket while the lock is out if it's perished.
  • Note the cam direction/length on compartment locks — the cam must clear the frame to latch.
  • Check the door isn't sagging on a worn hinge before blaming the latch.

Replacing the whole window or door too? See our Black Series window size chart and window replacement guide. Lift-up doors and panels also use gas struts — check those if a door won't stay up.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get keys cut to my Black Series lock code?

Often yes — quote the code stamped on the lock or key. If all keys are lost, you may need a replacement lock or cylinder cut to a new code. Contact us with your code to confirm.

Are all Black Series compartment locks the same?

No — they vary by cam length and key code. Identify yours by the cam and the code before ordering.

Do entrance-door locks come with keys?

Replacement locks generally include keys cut to their cylinder; check the listing. Spare keys are ordered by code.
