Which screen door latch fits my RV entry door, and how do I tell a Lippert door from a Black Series one?

Short answer: Most US travel trailers and fifth wheels use a Lippert entry door; its ID label is on the inside of the door frame, and the matching latch is Lippert 201471 (right hand), which also replaces Jayco 0222085, Keystone 294996 and Winnebago 2T023010060. Black Series campers use a mesh security screen door with its own OEM hinge and latch parts instead.

Step 1: find the door maker

Lippert supplies the entry doors on a large share of North American travel trailers and fifth wheels, and Lippert says its door identification label is normally on the inside of the entry door frame. If that label is there, the screen door hardware is Lippert and the parts below fit. The exception is Lippert's G-Class door, which takes different hardware; note the model on the label before ordering.

Step 2: pick the latch by hand

The Lippert screen door latch is sold as a right-hand or left-hand assembly. Stand outside facing the closed door: if the hinges are on the right, it is a right-hand door. Lippert 201471 is the right-hand latch, a black plastic latch/catch that comes without mounting screws, so keep the old ones.

The OEM part numbers it replaces, from Lippert's own cross-reference:

Trailer brand OEM part number Lippert replacement
Jayco 0222085 201471
Keystone RV 294996 201471
Winnebago 2T023010060 201471

If your parts list shows one of those numbers, this is the latch.

The other two screen door parts that fail

Slider panel with push-down knob (Lippert 239061). The clear plastic panel in the screen that lets you reach the latch from inside, 12 x 9.75 in, with the knob that pushes the latch open. It cracks and the knob snaps; it is a drop-in with no assembly.

Screen Shot automatic closer (Lippert 730814). If the complaint is that the screen door never latches because nobody pulls it shut, the 28-inch Screen Shot closes it for you. Its actual length is 25.5 in; the size refers to the door's rough opening. Right-hand Lippert doors only, not G-Class, hardware included.

Black Series campers are different

Black Series HQ and Dominator campers use a mesh security screen door on surface-mount hinges rather than a Lippert entry door. The screen door's black hinge is a Black Series OEM part listed in their catalog as the inside door hinge; replace it when the screen door sags or rubs the frame and no longer closes square. For the keyed entry door lock and the pop-top latch, the Black Series door hardware guide lists each part by where it is fitted.

Before you order

Compare the latch body and mounting holes to a photo of the Lippert part. Screen door latches from different door makers look alike and do not interchange. If you are unsure, send us a photo of the latch and the door frame label and we will match it.
