How to find your axle rating, bolt pattern and stud size
  • Axle rating: it is printed on the axle tag (a metal plate or sticker on the axle tube, usually near one end). The trailer's certification label by the door or on the tongue also lists the rating of each axle (GAWR). If the tag is gone, the number of wheel studs narrows it down.
  • Count the wheel studs: 5 studs = 5 on 4.5" (DeeMaxx 3.5K kits). 6 studs = 6 on 5.5" (6K kits). 8 studs = 8 on 6.5" (7K or 8K kits; the axle rating decides which).
  • Measure the bolt circle to confirm: with 6 or 8 studs, measure center to center across two opposite studs. With 5 studs, measure from the outside edge of one stud to the center of the stud across from it (skipping the one next to it).
  • Stud size (7K and 8K only): read the thread off a lug nut or measure the stud diameter: 1/2"-20, 9/16"-18 or 5/8"-18. DeeMaxx 9/16" and 5/8" kits come with a threaded (oil-bath style) hub with a screw-in cap; the 1/2"-stud 7K kit comes with a grease hub.
  • Axle maker (8K only): named on the axle tag. DeeMaxx makes separate 8K brackets for Dexter / Lippert axles and for Al-Ko / Quality (Axis) axles.
  • Actuator: every disc conversion uses the EOHA1600 (1600 psi) disc actuator, or the EOHA1600XL (28.7 oz fluid capacity) on three axles. The EOHA1000 is the drum-brake actuator and is not used for disc brakes.

All DeeMaxx kits are sold per wheel or per axle unless the listing says master kit, so a tandem trailer needs four wheel kits (or two one-axle kits), one actuator and one tandem line kit.
