Must-Have Black Series Camper Upgrades & Parts (HQ12–HQ22T)

The upgrades and replacement parts Black Series owners actually buy — organized by model, with fitment notes for HQ12 through HQ22T.

If you own a Black Series camper, you already know the trade-off: these trailers are built for serious off-road use, but finding the right replacement parts and upgrades in the US can be a hunt. As the parts store that specializes in Black Series, here's our rundown of the upgrades and replacements owners actually buy — based on what's moving off our own shelves.

First: know your model

Most parts are model-specific. Start from your camper's collection so everything you see fits: HQ12, HQ15, HQ17, HQ19 & HQ19T, HQ21 & HQ21B, or HQ22T.

1. Suspension & stability — the highest-impact upgrade

The independent trailing-arm suspension is what makes a Black Series capable off-road, and it's also the system that works hardest. Suspension bushings are the most common wear item — if you hear clunking over washboard roads, start there. For camp setup, the adjustable folding stabilizer legs are one of our best sellers: faster to deploy than the stock legs and more stable on uneven ground.

2. Skylights and seals — fix leaks before they start

UV exposure is hard on roof fittings. The complete skylight assembly (outside + inside) is our single most popular replacement part — most owners replace the whole unit rather than chasing cracked frames and worn seals separately.

3. Power & off-grid — the Victron upgrade path

Black Series campers take well to lithium conversions. The proven setup our customers run: a LiFePO4 battery bank, a Victron MPPT solar charge controller, and an inverter/charger sized to your AC loads. If you're starting from the stock AGM setup, begin with the battery and charge controller — you can add inverter capacity later.

4. Comfort upgrades that earn their keep

Two favorites: the tankless water heater (endless hot water, less maintenance than tank units) and the electric awning — one-button shade instead of a two-person wrestling match.

5. Towing — don't compromise the articulation point

If you tow off-road, your hitch is a safety item. The 12,000 lb full-articulation off-road hitch keeps full range of motion on technical terrain, and Cruisemaster DO35/DO45 couplers and tow pins are the standard fitment for Black Series drawbars.
