Which Camco jack pads should I use under RV stabilizers on soft ground or gravel?

Short answer: On soft ground, go by footprint. The large 14" x 11.7" pads (2-pack, 44541) spread the load furthest, and the small 6.5" x 9" pads (4-pack, 44595) cover four corners on firmer ground. On gravel and roots, the 6.2" rubber pads (44591) flex instead of rocking. If a jack runs out of travel, the 44421 adds 7" of lift and is rated for 6,000 lb.

A stabilizer jack puts its load on a small foot. On grass, sand or wet dirt, that foot sinks, and the RV starts to rock again. On gravel, a hard pad can sit on one stone and wobble. Camco makes four parts for this. The ground you camp on decides which one you need.

The four options

Part Size Pack Best for
44541 large pads 14" x 11.7" 2 Soft ground: grass, sand, mud
44595 small pads 6.5" x 9" 4 Firmer sites, all four corners in one pack
44591 rubber pads 6.2" x 6.2" 4 Gravel, roots and rough earth
44421 jack support 13 1/2" x 15" x 7 1/4" tall 1 A jack that runs out of travel: adds 7" of lift, rated 6,000 lb

Camco lists both plastic pad sizes for stack jacks, fifth wheel stabilizers, swing-down stabilizers and awning arms. They interlock and strap together for storage, and each pad has a carry handle.

How to choose

Count your jacks first. The small pads come four to a pack, so one pack covers a four-corner trailer. The large pads come in pairs, so a trailer with four corner jacks needs two packs.

Soft ground: go bigger. The 14" x 11.7" pad has well over twice the footprint of the 6.5" x 9" pad (about 164 sq in against 58.5 sq in), so the same load presses less into the ground. If your jacks sank on the small pads last trip, move up.

Gravel and roots: go rubber. Camco makes the 44591 from recycled rubber so it flexes under uneven pressure instead of cracking or wobbling on a stone. At 6.2" square, it's the smallest of the three, so it isn't the pick for mud.

Jack fully extended and still not touching? That's the job of the 44421 support, not a pad. It adds 7" of height under the jack, is rated for 6,000 lb, and takes round jack feet up to 10" across. Measure your jack foot before you order. Several supports nest together for storage.

Andersen makes a magnetic alternative: its Trailer Jack Block comes 4 in or 8 in tall and sticks to the jack foot. The ratings differ a lot by height, so check them in our Andersen jack block and leveler guide.

One rule for all of them

Stabilizers steady a level RV. They don't lift it. Level the RV with blocks under the tires first, then lower the jacks onto the pads until they're just snug.

All four are genuine Camco parts. They ship from our Upland, California warehouse.
