Choose your conversion scope
DeeMaxx disc brake kits convert boat, camper and utility trailers with 3,500 to 8,000 lb axles from drum to hydraulic disc brakes. Every trailer disc brake conversion kit here is built from DeeMaxx parts: tandem and triple-axle master kits with the EOH actuator and brake lines in the box, one-axle and single-wheel kits, and the calipers, pads, rotors, brackets, galvanized hubs and DOT lines to build or service a set. The MAXX coating and stainless steel options are made for saltwater launching, where drum brakes fail first. Orders ship from Upland, California.
Which DeeMaxx kit do I need? Answer four questions in the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit Finder (axle count, rating, stud size, finish) and it lists the exact kits, actuator and line kit for your trailer. New to conversions? Read which DeeMaxx kit fits your axle and DeeMaxx EOH actuators explained.
DeeMaxx kit families by axle rating
As our listings state them. Bolt circles in brackets come from DeeMaxx's galvanized hubs and stainless slip-over rotors; the integral MAXX rotor/hubs list lug count and stud size only, so measure your wheels before ordering.
| Axle rating | Lugs and studs | Rotor | Caliper and bracket | Kit formats we list |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3.5K (3,500 lb) | 5 lug, 1/2" studs (5 on 4.5") | 10.2" integral rotor/hub (RTR/HUB-102-MAXX), or 10.9" stainless slip-over rotor on a galvanized hub | CALP-3-6K; DBB-3.5KI (integral) or DBB-3.5K (slip-over) | Single-wheel; one-axle, including MECH parking brake; tandem and triple master kits |
| 6K (6,000 lb) | 6 lug, 1/2" studs (6 on 5.5") | 12" integral rotor/hub (RTR/HUB-120-MAXX), or 12" stainless slip-over rotor | CALP-3-6K; DBB-6K open or DBB-6KC closed 5-bolt bracket | Single-wheel; one-axle, including MECH and closed-bracket 6KC; tandem and triple master kits |
| 7K (7,000 lb) | 8 lug, 1/2" studs, non-threaded hub with dust cap (8 on 6.5") | 13.1" integral rotor/hub (RTR/HUB-131-7K-MAXX), or 13.1" stainless slip-over rotor | CALP-7-8K; DBB-7K, 5-bolt brake flange | Single-wheel; tandem and triple master kits |
| 7K-9T | 8 lug, 9/16" studs, threaded oil-bath hub with 2-7/8"-12 screw-in cap | 13.1" threaded integral rotor/hub (RTR/HUB-131-8KT-.56-MAXX), or stainless slip-over rotor on a galvanized oil hub | CALP-7-8K; DBB-7K | Single-wheel; tandem and triple master kits |
| 8K Dexter/Lippert (8KD, 8KDD) | 8 lug, 9/16" (9T) or 5/8" (10T) studs, threaded oil-bath hub (8 on 6.5") | 13.1" threaded integral rotor/hub (RTR/HUB-131-8KT-.56 or -.62), or in 8KDD stainless kits a 13.1" stainless slip-over rotor on a galvanized oil hub | CALP-7-8K; DBB-8KD or DBB-8KDD, for Dexter hubs 008-399-05 to 08 | Single-wheel; tandem and triple master kits in 9T and 10T |
| 8K Al-Ko/Axis/Quality (8KA) | 8 lug, 9/16" or 5/8" studs, threaded oil-bath hub | 13.1" threaded integral rotor/hub | CALP-7-8K; DBB-8KA | Single-wheel only (MAXX, MAXX-SS); no master kit |
Which DeeMaxx kit fits my axle?
Start with the axle rating, then count the lugs and measure the stud size: 1/2" on the 3.5K, 6K and 7K kits, 9/16" (9T) or 5/8" (10T) on the threaded-hub 7K and 8K kits. At 8K the bracket depends on the axle brand: 8KD for Dexter and Lippert, 8KA for Al-Ko, Axis and Quality. Not sure of the rating? The bearing numbers on your spindle tell you: see which bearings fit an 8,000 lb axle and how to identify your trailer hub. Then run the Kit Finder, or contact us with the rating, bolt pattern and a photo of the brake flange.
Disc or drum: why convert?
Electric drum brakes are built for a trailer that stays dry. Launched in salt water, the magnet, springs and adjuster inside the drum corrode and the brake grabs or quits. Hydraulic disc brakes shed water and dry fast, and DeeMaxx's MAXX coating and stainless parts are made for that use. An electric-over-hydraulic actuator keeps the cab-controlled feel of electric brakes, run from the tow vehicle's brake controller. More in boat trailer brakes that survive salt water.
What is in a DeeMaxx kit?
Master kits (MK-TA tandem, MK-TR triple), such as MK-TA-3.5K-MAXX, are the whole conversion: the actuator (EOHA1600 tandem, EOHA1600XL triple), the DOT-TA20K or DOT-TR20K line kit and one single-wheel kit per wheel. Single-wheel kits (1/DBI-…-KIT) are one complete wheel end: rotor or rotor/hub, caliper, bracket, bearings, seal, dust cap or screw-in hub cap, bracket hardware, lug nuts and a rubber plug; order two per axle. One-axle kits (DBI-…) are the rotor/hubs, calipers and brackets for both wheels of one 3.5K or 6K axle; bearings, seals, lug nuts, actuator and lines are not included.
Do I need a brake actuator?
Yes, unless you buy a master kit, which includes one. An EOH actuator turns the brake controller's electric signal into hydraulic line pressure on the trailer. DeeMaxx brakes use the 1,600 psi disc models: EOHA1600 (or black EOHA1600-BLK) for single and tandem axles, EOHA1600P&P with the 10.5 ft harness, breakaway battery and switch in the box, and EOHA1600XL (28.7 fl oz) for three axles or more. The 1,000 psi EOHA1000 is for hydraulic drum brakes. Add a line kit: DOT-SA18K single, DOT-TA20K tandem, DOT-TR20K triple.
MAXX coating or stainless steel?
MAXX is DeeMaxx's corrosion-resistant coating on the integral rotor/hub, caliper and bracket. MAXX-SS (MAXX/SS on the 3.5K and 6K single-wheel kits) keeps the MAXX rotor/hub and bracket and adds a stainless caliper with stainless pads. SS kits are full stainless for marine and salt exposure: a stainless slip-over rotor on a galvanized hub, with stainless caliper and bracket, so the rotor can be renewed without replacing the hub. Stainless weighs more per boxed single-wheel kit: 32 vs 37 lb at 3.5K, 38 vs 45 lb at 6K, 58 vs 62 lb at 7K. Master kits are MAXX only.
Can I add a parking brake?
Yes. The MECH/MAXX one-axle kits, DBI-3.5K-MECH/MAXX and DBI-6K-MECH/MAXX, use mechanical/hydraulic calipers that apply hydraulically for service braking and through a lever for parking. The same caliper is sold on its own for 3-6K and 7-8K axles.
Service parts are listed separately: pad sets in yellow ceramic, semi-metallic and stainless for the 3-6K (D289) and 7-8K (D215) calipers, rotors, brackets, galvanized hubs, hub caps, lug nuts, and DOT rubber and stainless braided lines from 12" to 240". DeeMaxx backs its galvanized, MAXX-coated, zinc-coated and stainless steel parts with a 7-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship (see the DeeMaxx warranty statement for terms).

Which DeeMaxx kit do I need?
Match the kit to your axle rating and count: a master kit converts a whole tandem or triple-axle trailer, an axle kit covers one axle, a single-wheel kit one wheel end. See which DeeMaxx kit fits your axle.
Do I need an EOH actuator?
Yes, to run hydraulic disc brakes from an electric brake controller. Pick the 1,600 PSI model for disc brakes: DeeMaxx EOH actuators explained.
