Power stations are a favourite of grey-market and drop-ship resellers because they are expensive, they ship in a plain box, and a fake listing costs nothing to create. You do not need a secret list of approved sellers to avoid that. You need four things stated in writing before you pay.
1. The manufacturer part number, on the listing
Every genuine unit has one, and a seller with real stock knows it. Ours are printed on the product page — for example the Apex 300 listing states the BLUETTI part number as APEX300-US-GY-BL-ID-SPFUS-00, and the Elite 200 V2 as EL200V2-US-GY-BL-ID-SPFUS-00. When the box arrives, the number on the label should match the listing. A seller that will not publish the part number is a seller who does not know which variant is in the warehouse.
2. The region code, not just the model name
The same model name is sold in different mains voltages and plug standards around the world. A unit built for another market will power up from its battery and then refuse your shore power or your outlets. Confirm in writing that it is the US version before you order — this is the single most common way people get burned buying "the same model, cheaper".
3. Where it ships from, and who holds the warranty
Ask the seller to say, in writing, where the unit ships from and who processes a warranty claim. Our listings state it up front: genuine BLUETTI, shipped direct from Bluetti's US warehouse, backed by the manufacturer's warranty. If a seller cannot answer that in one sentence, the warranty path is probably you, a shipping label and a long wait.
4. A real business behind the listing
Look for a physical address, a phone number, a published returns policy and a catalogue that makes sense — a company that sells RV electrical parts every day is a different proposition from a storefront that appeared last month selling eleven unrelated categories. What to do on the day it arrives
Photograph the box label and the unit's serial plate before you unpack anything, check the part number against the listing, and register the product with Bluetti. If the label does not match what you were sold, you have the evidence to open a dispute while the return window is still open.
A word on marketplace pricing
If a price is far below everyone else's, the usual explanations are a returned or refurbished unit, a non-US variant, or an expansion battery being passed off as a complete station. Compare the capacity in watt-hours and the AC output in watts against the manufacturer's own published figures before you assume you have found a deal.
