Nature's Head Weekender or standard composting toilet: which fits my van?

Short answer: The Weekender is 16.75" tall, 18" wide and 18" deep at 19 lbs; the standard Nature's Head is 21" x 20" x 19" at 23 lbs. That 4.25" of height and 2" of width are why small vans pick the Weekender. The cost is less capacity, and the multi-directional urine diverter kit does not fit it. If the standard fits, it holds about 60–80 solid uses.

How to measure

Height under any cabinet or bed platform. The Weekender is 4.25" lower. In a van where the toilet slides under a bench or a bed platform, this is usually the deciding number.
Width between the wall and the cabinet. The Weekender is 2" narrower.
Depth plus lid clearance. Both lift a lid and need room for the agitator handle to turn.
Seat height you want. The standard's 21" is closer to a household toilet; some people find the Weekender low.

Pick the Weekender when

The toilet lives under a platform or in a cassette-sized cabinet.
It is two people on weekend or week-long trips, where emptying more often is not a problem.

Pick the standard when

It fits. More capacity means fewer emptying jobs on long trips.
You want urine to drain to a tank. The diverter options are built around the standard body, and the multi-directional kit is listed as not fitting the Weekender.

Kits for vans

Both come as a Vehicle Kit that adds the Shell Vent installation kit (shell vent with insect-screen filter, 1 ft of 1-1/4" PVC and an interior trim ring) for venting through the van wall. The standard Vehicle Kit also includes a 9L bag of coco coir.
