The Bilstein 24-186599 is a B6 heavy-duty monotube shock absorber for the rear of the Monaco Knight/Cayman and HR Ambassador. It replaces the original shock using the stock springs and mounting points, and is valved specifically for this application to control body roll, sway and wheel hop on a heavy motorhome or van chassis.
B6 shocks use a 46mm monotube body with a velocity-sensitive digressive piston, so damping stays consistent on long grades and rough roads instead of fading as the oil heats up. Worn shocks are one of the most common causes of wander and porpoising in a coach or Class C; replacing them in axle pairs restores a planted, controlled ride.
