Had issues but Customer Support made it right

Purchased my Velit Gasoline heater in Sept, 2023. It was the earlier version w/ the ugly off-white thermostat. I then bought the Upgrade kit on their website per their instruction from support via email. You have to take out the ECU to ship it to them and let them know how many leads are coming off of the old thermostat. Then, they will send you back your re-programmed ECU with the new black thermostat which is definitely an incredible upgrade as far as aesthetics and functionality (ease of use)! The knob is pretty rickity in that it will skip numbers or not register at all when choosing your set temp but besides that it still is an upgrade ...especially with the Bluetooth feature! But, ever since that change...things have gone down hill. I first noticed that there was an approx. 10 degree difference in temp on the thermostat versus the real ambient temp in the van. I had a digital thermometer and a regular mercury thermometer to gauge it off of. I asked their support team about this but they stated that the wall it was on can cause this difference (even though both of my thermometers were on the same wall with correct readings). Then I asked what should we do about it and they sent back an incoherent response as if I was talking to someone in China. So, I gave up after reading that. I would just have to adjust accordingly. It was working for a couple of weeks then after that, it would intermittently power on and then off. Or the display on the thermostat will just blink like a disco ball. As if there was not enough electricity. I then got my multitester out and checked my 12v battery that was supplying the load to it and it registered 13.47 volts. So, not sure what was happening. But, sadly I am going through another cold Winter of either freezing nights with no heat or partial heated nights as it would pop on and off whenever it wants. I will try to reach out to Velit Customer Service again via my existing email string but this has been a major nightmare as heating is a core need for survival so, this is serious business. I hope they can provide a solution. UPDATE: Let it be known that you may have issues with any product you buy but I would like to share that VELIT customer support did not give up on me. They worked with me and found a solution to my issue by testing my ECU in their lab and providing a personal video on how to install the parts they sent back to me. Incredible effort and support. Thanks, Velit Team! All previously mentioned issues have ALL been resolved.

Soot buildup, bluetooth not working

GAS Heater installed less than 2 weeks ago, at 4000ft elevation. Has been running on thermostat at 60f for about a week. Started erroring out with 002 code and then switched to 001 with lots of smoke when it tried to start. Checked fuel lines and angles of everything, small bubbles but fuel is definitely moving. Noticed a LOT of carbon on the ground. Disconnected muffler to see if there was a clog. No clog in exhaust pipe. Customer service has been responsive but indicated that this is a known issue. Their troubleshooting flow chart says to clean the combustion chamber which requires disconnecting intake, exhaust, fuel, replacing a gasket, disassembling unit, cleaning the chamber and reconnecting/assembling everything. It seems that this is a known issue. with the most recent release. My suspicion is that the heater needs to be run on high rather than thermostat to possibly resolve the issues. It's a common rec with diesel heaters to run on high before shutoff. I disconnected the muffler and was able the unit on high, and am working through more troubleshooting. Again this is with a heater that's only been installed for 2 weeks, though has seen lots of runtime. Hoping this can be resolved, I was pretty excited for this heater. Also the device shows up in Bluetooth but isn't connecting to my phone or the app, but I purchased before the Bluetooth was listed as an option.

Great value

This is a great value in comparison to the other gasoline heaters on the market. The installation instructions could be better, but provide enough information to complete the install if you have some mechanical abilities. The thermostat is very basic. At times, the thermostat will have a blank screen and is not responsive to any knob or button input. Simply unplug the thermostat and plug it back in and it works properly. It is kind of a pain because you have to reset the clock every time you do this. All and all, it’s a great unit, blows nice warm air and heats my van efficiently.

Works Great In Ford Transit

Working great so far. Just have to make sure it has plenty of power for glow plugs while it starts up. My 15 amp power supply couldn't always keep up. Has kept us warm during our van build this winter. It will run you out quick once it gets going.

Everything I was looking for

This heater checked all the boxes when I was researching. Installing a parking heater is a massive job for the DIY person and having installed a CDH in another van, I was convinced that it is well worth buying a heater with self adjusting altitude control and a real thermostat. I installed this unit and appreciated the small upgrades over the cheap CDHs like nicer tubing, clamps, and how the pump control wires don't need to be cut. I installed an espar stand pipe into the fuel tank (petrol) to avoid any issues at altitude. The included stand pipe seemed ok, but was a little rusty. It's worth the extra $30 for piece of mind. The unit fired up second try, I did prime the line with vacuum. It runs quiet and the controller is very intuitive. I tested the CO content and it was below 14 ppm throughout the run. I'm stoked to leave that thing at home! No more getting out of the van in the cold to make sure I changed the settings correctly! I haven't run at altitude yet, but I'll try to update this review in a couple months when I try it! Overall, so worth the money. Super glad someone went through the effort to make an upgraded unit! Honestly the price for the espar or other name brand units with altitude adjust is insane and from my research they aren't much more reliable than a cheap Chinese unit.

Excellent Heater for Van Life

The Velit gasoline heater is a top option for any van or RV with a gasoline engine. It sips the gas and doesn’t need a separate fuel source.

Solid unit so far

Installation of the unit was reasonably easy. Actual use time has been about two weeks. It has not been flawless, but that is partially my fault in playing with it and not realizing I was giving it a nervous breakdown. Need to re-flash the download when I get home, but in the mean time, I simply turn it down to 40 during the day, effectively shutting it off without actually shutting it off. Velit tech support was reasonably quick to answer my email questions, and so far all of their information has been spot on.

Love it with a few exceptions

When it's working it's great however I've needed to update the firmware several times to get it unstuck from starting up. This seems to happen if the unit loses power. It will just refuse to start.

Great product and service

Got the heater hooked up and working. Shipping time was ok. Instructions were not so great. Thanks to you tube in making the install easier. The heater was easy to prime and get working. My van now has a good heater I’m hoping will last for years.

Nice heater, working mostly as expected so far

Installed this gasoline heater under the passenger seat of my Ford Transit. Not an easy install, but good resources are available on YouTube for similar heater installation. I used the included Aux fuel adapter for Ford and it snapped right on top of the port easily. In early use (around 6,000 ft elevation) this seems to work fine, but I am worried that it may be problematic at altitude. If so, I'll install the narrow dip tube that was also included (but more complicated to install). I found the exhaust pipe too short to reach the edge of the van and had to buy a small extension. I also bought some fiberglass / silicon heat shield to protect the plastic fuel line where it crosses over the van's exhaust / catalytic converter - so you may want to purchase those items ahead of time since it would be a pain to add them later if you're doing a similar install. They were inexpensive and would have been nice to have with the heater. Operation was pretty straight forward and the Bluetooth app works really well. One glitch seemed to happen when I set a temp on the thermostat and then adjusted it on the app. The heater reached the desired temp fairly quickly, but just kept running. The inside temp on the thermostat seemed to indicate the set temp, but after running continuously it felt a lot hotter in the van. This was resolved by powering the heater off and then back on again. After that the heater operated as expected where it would hit the set temp and then cool down,, then shut off. I also wanted to set the temp low to sleep, then higher when I wake up at a set time. However, it seems like the early morning start feature only works when the heater is in the off position. So that wasn't quite what I hoped for; but I may not be fully aware of the capabilities.

Reliable!

I’ve been using this velit heater for two years now in our Transit High Roof. It replaced two other common brands that would never start at altitude. We use the heater constantly above 10000 feet at the ski areas. This year it kept us warm on a -27 degree stretch in Fraser Colorado. Great heater. Reliable and always works.

good but should be better

The unit itself seems great, but the included hardware should be better. Should have stainless screws and nylon lock nuts, stainless rubber lined hangers, one more section of exhaust tubing. There should also be an included gasket for the mounting plate to floor surface, not just a gasket for the heater to mounting plate. Lastly the fuel pump is loud, much louder than my friends webasto... For those who are installing, when cutting the stand pipe to length, make sure you have the fuel pump assembly compressed so you get the length correct, you'll know if it isn't because it makes re assembly very hard and probably why many people have a hard time re assembling. use a lock nut and washer on it so it can't work it's way loose. if you are installing under passenger seat, you will be using the mounting plate, so can make a healthy sized hole for the intake exhaust and the bolts attaching the heater to the plate. I installed mine on my transit towards the drivers seat not the passenger side door like most people do. It works but is tight and requires precises pre-bending the exhaust to get by the exhaust heatshield. I used some silicone sealant to create a seal on the mounting plate to the van floor. I routed the exhaust to a space just between the sliding door and passenger door. seems fine for exhaust and not getting sucked into the van. there is also a nice tight space to jam the intake up on the back side of the jack storage area. 1/4 fuel line is perfect size for protecting the included fuel line. I used a section of 3/8 fuel line from the fuel pump to the heater that can also protect the fuel pump wires. I have the fuel pump mounted an untapped m6 or m8 rivnut by the stairwell (get a cheap tapping kit so you can make use of all the untapped rivnuts on the van, also having a rivnut kit makes installing much better), this location makes for a nice pump spot and can keep a steady upward angle to the heater. I installed the fuel filter to the outside of the fiberglass fuel tank cover (wear a mask fiber gets everywhere), it makes a nice union spot so you can reinstall the fuel tank, then be able to connect the fuel line. good luck, takes forever your first go, but bet I could do it in an hour or so now.

Minivan install. Great product

Claims are on spec. I only had enough time to take a quick video before taking it on its first trial run. Fuel and wattage consumption clay are on par with what they claim. Unit runs great. I left the day after I installed this unit from Michigan and headed to quartzite. Installed in my minivan after removing all the stow and go seating. And building out a platform. Some nights on the way down it got down to 5 degrees and it kept me plenty warm this is with no insulation yet in my build. I would recommend this product. It was funny getting to quartzite and seeing you guys at the big tent event. I think if you had some more video reviews on YouTube it would get the word out more. Look forward to seeing what you do as a company in the future. Gas version tank tap. I will take a better video within pictures when I return from quartzite so people can see the wattage draw during start up and running. It will not let me upload te current video without wifi.

This new Bluetooth version ~ WOW!

We had some issues with our original unit that was purchased the end of July 2024. Constant ERR01 codes. Velit was very responsive to our plight, as the nights were down to upper 30's. After speaking with their engineer, we determined a new unit was needed. Received the new unit within a couple of weeks, got it switched out and BOOM, fabulous heat and bluetooth capabilities!! Unit is very quiet and starts every time, the first time. Been using it for 3 weeks in 5-35 degree nights and it's keeping the van at 62 (where we have it set). Couldn't be happier and so impressed with Velit's customer service!! Thanks, Velit!

It's nice

Very hot, it keeps my 11 windows pasanger van very warm. It got down to 28 degrees once and I felt very comfortable. It's not a small job if you need to drop your gas tank, witch is the hardest part of the setup.
