The entrance door is one of the hardest-working parts on a Black Series trailer - opened hundreds of times a season, slammed on washboard tracks, and exposed to dust and rain. When the seal hardens or the door sags, you get leaks, rattles, and dust ingress. Here's how to put it right.
Shop Black Series doors, covers & skylights for complete assemblies, seals, and hardware.
Common door problems and fixes
- Dust or water getting in: almost always a hardened or torn perimeter seal. Replacing the rubber seal is the cheapest, highest-impact fix.
- Door sags or won't latch: worn hinges or a tired gas strut - the door drops out of alignment.
- Rattling on rough roads: loose strikers/latches or a compressed seal no longer holding tension.
- Cracked window or screen in the door: many Black Series entrance doors come as a full assembly with an integrated window and screen door.
Replacing the door seal
- Peel back the old seal and clean the channel of adhesive and grit.
- Measure the profile and length so you order the correct replacement seal.
- Seat the new seal evenly without stretching it, and let it settle before closing the door hard.
- Adjust strikers so the door compresses the seal evenly all the way around.
Replacing the full door assembly
If the frame is damaged or the integrated window is cracked, a complete entrance door assembly (with window and screen) is the cleaner fix. Measure your door height and confirm the hinge side before ordering - Black Series uses more than one size across models. Browse current options in doors, covers & skylights, and check the gas struts and locks while you're there.
Frequently asked questions
Can I just replace the seal, not the whole door?
Usually yes - a new perimeter seal solves most leak and dust complaints for a fraction of the cost of a full assembly.
How do I know which door size I need?
Measure the door height and note the hinge side, then match it to the product page. See our HQ parts compatibility guide for model-by-model fitment.
