The T.R.A.P. (Transient Reducing Auxiliary Plug) is a 5,000 W transient voltage suppression device that shunts away the very fast, very brief voltage spikes an EMP (E1 and E2) or a nearby lightning strike induces on the cables of an inverter or portable generator. Those transients last nanoseconds to microseconds, which is why a device this small can suppress them.
The 12V T.R.A.P. plugs into a 12 V DC auxiliary (cigarette-style) socket on a generator, inverter or vehicle.
Faraday Defense recommends T.R.A.P.s at more than one point on a generator or inverter, and pairing them with an EMP bag for the device itself when it is stored.

One T.R.A.P. or a kit?
- This plug goes in a 12V accessory socket; Faraday Defense recommends one in every socket and says it draws essentially no current and works with the ignition off.
- For the battery side add the T.R.A.P.-B and two auto ferrites, or take the 4-piece kit that contains all four.
- Check clearance: the plug is 3" long.
