Three-quarter and one-ton pickups do the heavy work: fifth wheels, gooseneck trailers, truck campers and loaded overland rigs. FOX makes shocks for the Ford Super Duty, Ram 2500 and 3500, and GM 2500 and 3500 HD trucks, mainly in its Performance and Performance Elite series. Factory Race covers the ATS steering stabilizers and, on 2005-2016 Super Duty trucks, 2.5 reservoir pairs such as 883-26-009. Most of these trucks tow at stock height or with a small leveling kit, so this guide lists the FOX part numbers from stock up to about 3 to 3.5 in of lift. Taller lifts are on each product page and in the FOX collection.
Which series for a towing truck
- 2.5 Performance (IFP, often with HTO): FOX pitches these at trucks on stock suspension hauling large payloads. They have no reservoir to mount and nothing to adjust, and are sold one shock at a time.
- 2.0 Performance: the most fitments, in IFP and remote-reservoir versions.
- Performance Elite 2.5 pairs with DSC: for a truck that runs empty all week and loaded at the weekend, because you can set compression damping for each. See FOX DSC adjuster explained.
The three-way comparison is in FOX Performance vs Performance Elite vs Factory Race.
Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty
FOX lists the same parts for the F-250 and the F-350 Super Duty pickup. The table covers 4WD trucks of 2020-2026. For 2017-2019 trucks the same part numbers often sit in different bands, so use the row for your year on the product page.

For a 3500 with rear air, the 2.5 Performance 987-24-027 is the rear FOX notes as compatible with air suspension, in single or dual rear wheel form. For steering, FOX lists the 2.0 IFP stabilizer 985-24-170 for 2011-2026 4WD Ram 2500s. It also lists the axle-mount TS 985-02-135 and ATS 983-02-158 for 2014-2026, although their labels read 2014-18, so ask us if your truck is 2019 or newer.

FOX lists the same part numbers in the same bands for 2020-2023 and 2024-2026 trucks, and for the 2500 HD and 3500 HD. On 2024-2026 trucks, FOX excludes the Silverado ZR2 from the 2500 HD rows and the Sierra AT4X from the Sierra rows. The leveled front parts in the 1.5 to 2.5 in band, apart from the 2.5 Performance 987-24-010, require an upper control arm. For 2011-2019 trucks, see each listing, and note that several Sierra rows exclude magnetic suspension.
Practical points for towing and truck campers
- Lift is not load. FOX's bands describe the lift on the truck, not the weight in the bed. Pick the band for your lift. For a heavy load, FOX's own pitch points to the 2.5 Performance, and to the Elite pairs if you want to adjust compression.
- Buy by axle. Most Performance shocks are sold singly, so order two per axle. The 2.0 reservoir kits marked "pair" in the tables, such as 885-24-232, already contain both shocks. Elite kits are pairs.
- Keep the sides matched. Always run the same part on the left and right of an axle.

FAQ
Do F-350 dually trucks use the same FOX shocks?
FOX's fit guide lists separate rows for F-350 Crew, Extended, Standard and Cab & Chassis models. Check the listing for your exact cab and rear-wheel setup, or ask us.
Which FOX shocks suit a truck camper?
FOX does not rate one part for campers. A 2.5 Performance or a Performance Elite pair in your truck's lift band are the usual choices. The Elite pair adds compression adjustment for the extra weight.
My Ram 3500 has rear air suspension. What fits?
At the rear, 987-24-027 is the one FOX lists as compatible with air suspension (0 to 1.5 in). The other Ram 3500 rears in the table are noted as not fitting trucks with rear air.
