MaxxFan Deluxe Guide: All Six Models, Fit and Controls

The six MaxxFan Deluxe roof fans side by side: which have the thermostat, electric lid and remote, whether one fits your roof, how it installs, and how Auto mode and the remote work.

MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe 14" RV Roof Vent Fan with Rain Shield, 10-Speed Intake/Exhaust, Thermostat, Electric Lift with Remote, White Lid | 00-07000K

The MaxxFan Deluxe is the MaxxAir roof fan with the rain shield built into the lid, so it can stay open and keep running in the rain without a separate vent cover. MaxxAir sells it in six versions for the standard 14 x 14 in roof opening, and the part numbers look almost the same. This guide covers what each Deluxe model does, whether it will fit your roof, and how the thermostat, remote and lid work once it's installed. Everything here comes from MaxxAir's Deluxe model table, product pages, FAQ and the Deluxe installation and operating guide (11E90001K).

The six Deluxe models

Part number Lid Speeds Airflow Thermostat Lid opening Remote
00-07000K White 10 Intake and exhaust Yes Electric Yes
00-07500K Smoke 10 Intake and exhaust Yes Electric Yes
00-05100K White 10 Intake and exhaust Yes Manual knob No
00-06200K Smoke 10 Intake and exhaust Yes Manual knob No
00-05301K White 4 Exhaust only No Manual knob No
00-06401K Smoke 4 Exhaust only No Manual knob No

Speeds, airflow direction, thermostat and remote are from MaxxAir's current Deluxe model table. Lid opening is from the operating guide and MaxxAir's 2025 catalog model table, which both show a manual lid on the 5301K, 6401K, 5100K and 6200K and an electric lid only on the remote models. Some of MaxxAir's single-product pages disagree: the 00-05301K page lists a thermostat, and the 00-05100K, 00-05301K and 00-06401K pages list an electric lid. The model table, the catalog and the keypad diagrams in the guide don't, so we go with those.

How the models pair up

  • 00-07000K / 00-07500K: the full-feature pair. 10 speeds, intake or exhaust, thermostat, an electric lid and an infrared handheld remote.
  • 00-05100K / 00-06200K: the same 10-speed reversible fan and thermostat, controlled from the ceiling keypad, with a lid you open and close by hand.
  • 00-05301K / 00-06401K: the simple Deluxe. Four speeds, exhaust only, manual lid, and still the built-in rain shield.

In each pair the only difference is the lid color: the first number is white, the second smoke. MaxxAir's FAQ says both lid colors let light into the RV.

What every Deluxe shares

  • Built-in rain shield. MaxxAir calls the Deluxe vent, fan and vent cover in a single unit. You can run it in the rain or while driving, and you don't add a FanMate or other cover.
  • Airflow. MaxxAir rates its 10-speed Deluxe models at up to 900 CFM. The product pages list a 12 in, 10-blade fan on a sealed ball bearing 12 V motor.
  • Ceiling Fan Mode. Close the lid with the motor running and the fan keeps circulating air inside the RV.
  • Lid open on the road. MaxxAir's FAQ says the Deluxe lid can stay open at highway speed because twin lift arms support it. The guide says the lid should be fully open or fully closed while the vehicle is moving.
  • Warranty. MaxxAir lists a 2-year limited warranty with a lifetime limited warranty on the lid. The operating guide says the 2-year cover is parts only, not labor, and that claims go to MaxxAir's technical department rather than the seller.

Will a Deluxe fit your roof?

Check four things before you order. All four are from MaxxAir's Deluxe installation guide and FAQ.

Check Deluxe requirement
Roof opening 14 x 14 in. Remove the ceiling garnish ring of the old vent and measure the ceiling opening.
Roof thickness 1 1/8 in to 6 1/2 in. If it's thinner, build up the ceiling opening with wood or similar.
Space behind the vent At least 8 in clear behind the rear edge of the existing vent flange: no air conditioner, storage box or other obstruction.
Direction Rain shield and louvers face the rear of the RV, hinge toward the front. MaxxAir says it can't be mounted sideways or backwards.
Power A 12 V DC circuit of at least 5 A, wired with stranded wire of the right gauge.

If there isn't room behind the vent for the Deluxe hood, MaxxAir recommends a MaxxFan or MaxxFan Plus with a FanMate cover instead; see which MaxxAir vent cover fits my fan. MaxxAir also makes an 11 in Deluxe for 11 x 11 in openings; we don't stock that one.

Installing it, in brief

The Deluxe goes in the way most 14 x 14 fans do, with a few Deluxe-specific steps from MaxxAir's guide:

  1. Remove the old vent and clean off all old sealant for at least 2 in around the opening.
  2. Seal and screw down the roof receiving flange, centered, with its metal clips facing the sides of the RV.
  3. Disconnect vehicle power, open the lid fully, and connect the two fan wires on the driver side. The black wire tagged (+) goes to 12 V positive.
  4. Lower the fan onto the flange with the louvers facing the rear and fasten it with the four 3/4 in #10 stainless screws supplied. MaxxAir warns against other screws.
  5. Restore power. Every Deluxe except the 5301K and 6401K beeps to confirm power, and the remote models close the lid.
  6. Trim the interior garnish ring to your roof: measure from the ceiling to each corner of the control plate and cut the ring 1/4 to 1/2 in longer than each measurement, since most roofs slope.

Use a sealant that's safe on the plastic flange. MaxxAir says to avoid anything with solvents like xylene, toluene, MEK, acetate or acetone, and polysulfide sealants. Our step-by-step for replacing a 14x14 vent with a MaxxFan covers the full job.

Using the thermostat, lid and remote

Auto mode (10-speed models)

Press AUTO and the thermostat runs the fan for you. The factory set point is 78°F, adjustable in 1° steps with the arrow keys, and the fan speeds up as the cabin gets warmer. In Auto mode the fan defaults to exhaust, though you can switch it to intake. If the fan loses 12 V power, the set point goes back to 78°F.

On the remote models (00-07000K, 00-07500K), Auto mode also opens the lid when it's warm and closes it and stops the fan once the cabin cools to the set point. On the manual-lid models (00-05100K, 00-06200K) the lid stays where you put it, so leave it open if you want Auto mode to ventilate. Our answer on which MaxxFan turns on by itself when the RV gets hot goes into this.

The lid

  • Manual models: pull the knob to unlock it, turn it to open or close, then push it in to lock.
  • Electric models: press both arrow keys together to open or close the lid. If the RV loses power, the knob still closes the lid by hand.

The remote

The remote on the 00-07000K and 00-07500K is infrared, so it only works in line of sight of the fan, not from outside the RV. Its thermostat range is 29°F to 99°F, and it comes with a wall cradle.

Care

To clean the insect screen, turn the fan off and disconnect its 12 V power, then turn the four knobs half a turn and lift the screen out. Rinse it with water or mild detergent. Never run the fan with the screen removed; the serial number label is under it. MaxxAir says to clean all parts with mild soap and water only, since solvent-based cleaners can crack the plastic. For power draw and wiring details see MaxxFan wiring, power draw and controls.

Which Deluxe should you buy?

If you want Choose
The fan to open, run and close by itself while you're away 00-07000K (white) or 00-07500K (smoke)
A thermostat and intake/exhaust, and you don't mind opening the lid by hand 00-05100K (white) or 00-06200K (smoke)
A basic exhaust fan you can leave open in the rain 00-05301K (white) or 00-06401K (smoke)
A fan on a crowded roof with no 8 in gap behind the vent Not a Deluxe: a MaxxFan or Plus with a FanMate

FAQ

Do I need a vent cover on a MaxxFan Deluxe?

No. The rain shield is built into the lid, so the Deluxe can run in the rain without a FanMate or other cover. See can I leave my RV roof vent fan open when it rains.

Does the 4-speed Deluxe have a thermostat?

No. MaxxAir's Deluxe model table shows a thermostat only on the 10-speed models: 00-05100K, 00-06200K, 00-07000K and 00-07500K.

Can I add a remote to a manual-lid Deluxe?

MaxxAir's operating guide describes the remote for the 7000K and 7500K, which have the electric lid. If you want a remote, buy one of those two.

Why didn't my Deluxe beep when I connected power?

The 5301K and 6401K don't beep. On the other models, MaxxAir says to recheck the wiring and confirm 12 V is on. The fan has a self-resetting fuse on its circuit board that resets when you remove and reapply power.

Where does it ship from?

Every MaxxAir order ships from our warehouse in Upland, California.
