Which Victron part does what in an RV
| Job | Victron line | What decides the size | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charge from solar | SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 & 100/50, 150/35 & 150/45 | Charge amps (12V: 100/30 = 440W, 100/50 = 700W of panel) and the array's cold Voc | 100/50 vs 150/45 |
| Charge while driving | Orion XS, Orion-Tr Smart | Charge current your alternator can supply at idle and when hot | Cyrix vs Argofet vs Orion |
| Shore power and 120V AC | MultiPlus-II, MultiPlus 2000VA | Continuous watts of what you run together; 120V for 30A rigs, 2x120V for 50A | MultiPlus-II sizing |
| Know what the battery is doing | SmartShunt, BMV-712 | The most current flowing through it, not battery Ah | SmartShunt sizes |
| Fuse and distribute | Lynx Distributor, Lynx Power In & Class-T Power In | M10 busbar; 1000A per line; fuses bought separately | Lynx explained |
| See it all in one place | Cerbo GX, GX Touch | Number of VE.Direct devices (3 ports on the Cerbo) | Cerbo vs Ekrano vs GX Touch |

Victron questions, answered
Is the 150/45 a bigger MPPT than the 100/50?
Not on a 12V battery. Victron rates the 100/50 at 50A and up to 700W of panel at 12V, the 150/45 at 45A and 650W. The 150 adds input voltage for longer series strings and works on 48V banks.
Which MultiPlus-II for a 30A or 50A RV?
The 120V models take one 120V supply, the usual fit for a 30A rig. The 2x120V models accept 120/240V split-phase shore power for a 50A rig. The first number in the name (12, 24 or 48) must match your battery bank.
Do I need a DC-DC charger for a lithium house battery?
Victron says the alternator must be protected from overload. Its Lithium NG manual asks for an alternator rated at least twice the battery's Ah, a temperature-controlled regulator and a current-limiting device such as a DC-DC charger. The SuperPack NG manual says to fit a DC-DC charger and names the Orion-Tr Smart and Orion XS.
What size SmartShunt do I need?
Size it to current. A 12V MultiPlus-II 12/3000 draws roughly 215A continuous by our estimate (2,400W at 93% efficiency), so a 500A SmartShunt suits most single-inverter RVs. Battery capacity is just a setting, from 1 to 9,999Ah.
Do Lynx modules come with fuses?
No. The Lynx Distributor takes MEGA fuses and the Lynx Class-T Power In takes two Class-T fuses, all sold separately. Build on M10: M8 and M10 modules cannot be joined.
Can you check my Victron parts list?
Yes. Start with the RV solar and battery calculator, or book a power-system consultation and our Victron-trained team will go through the controller, inverter, battery monitor and fusing with you.
